Sally Worth Occupational Therapist for Towerview Care Group

My name is Sally Worth, I have been a registered Occupational Therapist since graduating in 2006 and have built up a vast amount of experience in both the NHS and independent sector.

I developed the OT role for the Falls management team and specialised in this area from 2010 until 2019. This role evolved and I expanded my OT skills into the Community and Rapid response Team in East Staffordshire.

I am dedicated to my career and feel very privileged to have been appointed my current role here at Towerview Care. The role of an Occupational Therapist in a care home is an emerging and exciting one which I am pleased to be part of.

An Occupational Therapist takes a holistic or “whole person approach” empowering individuals to overcome barriers caused by illness, accidents or aging to enable them to carry out everyday activities or occupations.

My role can include supporting care staff and training them on the importance of encouraging independence with self-care and other aspects of a daily living routine. Within this I would consider and assess the individuals physical, psychological, social and environmental needs to encourage individuals to keep their identity once they have moved into care.

I aim to create an enabling environment to encourage participation in meaningful and purposeful activity. Whilst advising the Towerview team on the environment, space and equipment requirements to maximise safety and independence. I will work with staff regarding falls management pathways and ways to manage risk in a positive manner.

Who can benefit from occupational therapy?
